Golf day success

17 Jun, 2009 03:59 PM
Tritton Charity Golf Day has come and gone for another year with a record number of golfers attempting to take out the big prize.

One hundred and fifty three golfers took to the course on a beautiful sunny Saturday on May 16 and a big thank you goes to the golf club who ensured this many golfers got around the course smoothly and for letting this day go ahead each year.

Firstly a thank you to the major sponsors for the day Neills Earthmoving, Sullivans Mining and Hardware, QMRC, UNIMIN and Tall Bennett, without these and the many other sponsors the day would not be the success it has become.

Prizes this year went down to number eleven as well as the Bradman’s trophy the NAGA, six nearest the pins, longest drive male and female and nearest in two.

Usually there is only one winner on the day but such is the success of the Tritton Charity Golf Day that we were lucky enough to have an extra three winners and these would be our deserving junior sporting charities Nyngan Pony Club, junior netball and junior tennis who each took home a cheque for $2000.

Once again this wouldn’t have been possible without all the workers and sponsors who contributed.

It is also great to note that the golf club, even in these tough times, donated their green fees back towards the charities which totalled some $800.

The winning team for the day was led by Captain Guy Monaghan ably accompanied by Tim Smith and Mitchell Cobcroft with a great score of 58.84 nett.

Second were Tim Tulenew, Anthony Griffiths and Ash Dunn on 59.00 nett.

Third were Vicki Hanlon, Peter Campbell and Pat Campbell on 59.34 nett. Fourth were Oozie Smith, Ron Monaghan and Robyn Harris on 60.17 nett. Fifth were Cliff Wyllie, Susan Wyllie and David Rose on 60.34 nett.

Honourable mention must go to our NAGA winners the Razer team ably led, or maybe disably led, by Stu Parmeter who snatched the last place trophy for a second year in a row - well done boys.

Longest drive male - Tim Tulenew, longest drive female - Doreen McHughes, nearest in two - Guy Monaghan, NTP second Josh Ah-See, NTP fourth Dudley Beetson, NTP ninth Tom Lupton, NTP12th P Dixon, NTP 14th Brendan Smith, and NTP 17th David Rose .

Once again thank you to all those who helped out with the day, I am sure next year’s day will be as big if not a bigger success.

So keep your eye out for the date and we’ll see you there.
