Local group gears up

04 Feb, 2010 10:32 AM
Bogan Community Tourism and Business Group will hold its inaugural Bogan River Ball on Saturday March 6.

The ball will be held in a marquee at the Nyngan Riverside Tourist Park on the banks of the Bogan River.

Nyngan High School hospitality students are excited about catering for the event.

It will be a great experience for the students as it is the largest function they have catered for.

A contribution from the group to the students will go towards purchasing equipment for the new hospitality unit at the high school.

Entertainment for the evening will be duo Cath Adams and Benny Stevens who have performed at many functions and clubs during the past 10 years.

Locally donated goods and a family zoo pass will be auctioned on the night.

Tickets are $75 per head which includes a three-course meal with tea, coffee and slice. Drinks are BYO.

A bus will be running on the night to take people back into town, the cost being a gold coin donation.

Dress for the ball is formal, so brush the cobwebs off your suits and dresses and put your dancing shoes on for a great night.

RSVP by February 15 and payment is due by February 23.

If you would like more details or would like to book a table please phone Dione Carter on 0428 322 037 or email: jrdjcarter@msn.com.

The Bogan Day Out held in October last year was a huge success with more than 500 people through the gate.

This year the Bogan Day Out Festival will be held on Saturday September 25 during the first weekend of the school holidays.

We had some talented performers singing at our last festival and are currently in negotiation with artists such as Beccy Cole and Adam Brand for this year’s festival.

The ball will be a fundraiser to help fund popular artists and keep ticket prices for the Bogan Day Out at a minimum.

The festival is getting bigger and better each year and provides an economic boost to the business community and town.

Please put the date in your diary and invite friends and family to help put Nyngan on the map for a great Bogan Day Out.

The market days held last year were also a huge success.

We will be holding our first market day on Sunday March 28 at Nyngan Riverside starting at 9am.

The horse carriage rides were a huge attraction and will be at the next market day.

There is no admission cost and there is always a variety of stalls.

A local community group caters for the food and drinks.

There is no cost to any community members who would like to have a stall and no admission into the market days.

Please contact Wendy Clissold on 0407 686 696 if you would like to have a stall at any of the market days.

If any of the market days are washed out at late notice they will be moved to the Town Hall.

Bogan Community Tourism and Business Group’s first meeting for the year will be held next Thursday March 11 at 6.30 pm.

I would like to thank Bogan Shire Council for letting us use the new Council Chambers to hold our meetings and for their continued support.

Come along and have your say to help make our community a better place.
