November meeting well attended by councillors

04 Feb, 2010 09:40 AM
A council meeting was held at Trangie on November 24, 2009. This day was very well attended by councillors and delegates from most branches in the group.

Hermidale Branch was in charge of the stall and the raffle.

An interesting item of news that executive officer Mrs Denise Turnbull announced was that the country of study for 2010 will be Scotland, which should be great. Everyone get out your kilts.

The 2010 dates were also worked out as well as where these functions will be held.

This is as follows:

Tuesday March 2: Group council meeting at Warren, also Land cookery and handicraft judging. Marra Creek to do the trading table.

July 19 to 22: Executive meeting.

July 27: Council meeting at Wanaaring, Narromine to do stall.

August 28: - Cultural day at Brewarrina.

November 23: - Council meeting at Nevertire. Nevertire to do stall.

Trangie members were thanked for the appetising lunch and the morning and afternoon tea they served.

2010 is moving on and already there have been changes and sadness to some branches.

Hermidale Branch has lost two members, Robyn Crick and husband Brian moved to Sydney to live, and our much-loved member of 29 years Hazel Currans passed away on January 10.

Our sympathies go out to Alf and sons John and Greg and their families.

Some of our Far Western Group members attended the International School of Study at Armidale this weekend past. Two of these people were President Dawn Elder and Vice President Jessie Quigley OAM. They should have plenty to tell us about Scotland.

This year is starting on a much brighter note than previous years. It is hoped that the falls of rain continue on and that people can have some productive times ahead.

Best wishes to all branches who will be holding their first meetings in February some time.

See you all at Warren on March 2, 2010.
