Athletes do well at Narromine Gala Day

05 Nov, 2009 10:20 AM
The 2009/10 Little Athletics season is well and truly underway at Nyngan with 50 keen athletes registered this year.

We have already completed two weeks of the season with a fun (introduction) week the first week and then an altered program due to rain on the second week. It is great to see children enthusiastic for athletics and, as always, supportive of each other.

The first carnival of the season was on Sunday for the Annual Narromine Gala Day. While numbers seemed to be down overall the Nyngan contingent had a fabulous day with a number of athletes breaking/setting new records in various events.

Athletes competed only in their own age groups this year and track events were heats only. Results to hand are as follows:

The next away carnival for the club is the Wellington Multi Event on November 22.

Nominations have closed with at least 18 athletes down to compete.

Zone nominations are required urgently.

Forms have been emailed to all families if you are interested. Zone is at Wellington on December 5 and 6 and is for U/7 - U/17 age groups and from here you can qualify to compete at regionals in February at Finley.

This Thursday will see all age groups compete in short track events and the two field events. Don’t forget to sign in on arrival and the hats, water and sunscreen. See you then.
