New members welcomed

03 Sep, 2009 11:27 AM
Twenty-six riders lined up for the monthly rally on Sunday August 16 at the showground. Four of these were new members, Sophie, Harry and Archie Ray and Phoebe Yabsley. A big welcome was given to these riders and we hope to have them with us for a long time.

The day consisted of lots of activity which was most popular with all.

Instructor Louise Wass had managed to obtain two big colourful balls and horse and rider had to push them along which was quite a good exercise for both.

Then president and instructor Dave Motley really got them going with each troop having a game of polocrosse.

Jodi Robb had them listening intently as she explained and gave demonstrations of barrel racing.

Lunch was a celebration to show our riders appreciation for the way they rode at the jamboree.

A bit more riding after lunch, then the day concluded with more ball game and a game of the old favorite ‘Dog and Bone’.

September 6 is our ODE and all are working hard preparing the course.

Nominations are coming in very well for this event.

Our ‘Great Debate’ will now be on Friday evening, October 23. The subject to be debated is ‘why you shouldn’t give marriage advice’”, should be interesting.

More about that and the debaters shortly.

Our next rally will be Sunday September 20, and the day before, the Mid West Equest Club will be holding a hunt day, so it should be a great weekend.

Deepest sympathy is extended to Jim and Abigail McLaughlin on the death of Jim’s father, the late Mr Jim McLaughlin.

More news at a later date.
