Nyngan pony club riders show talent

03 Jun, 2009 04:38 PM
Nyngan Pony Club riders have been competing around the State in several disciplines over the past two weeks - and have notched up some great results.

Georgie Richardson has continued her success in dressage at the Central Western Dressage Championships at Bathurst last weekend.

Georgie rode five tests on Jubilation of Wyuna (Conrad) and won all of them to be awarded official pony champion.

Meanwhile several younger members of the Nyngan Pony Club have been taking on the show circuit. McKinley Codrington attended the Walgett Show where she was third in the pairs and fourth in her riding class, the pony hack, the novice pony and the barrel and bending races.

Grace Carter and Alex and Lucy McLaughlin competed at the Warren Show on the weekend. Grace had a go at the showjumping making the second round on Eldon in the junior competition and also taking Jimmy in the 80cm class where she had a near-clear round. Jimmy was also champion led galloway, reserve champion ridden galloway, and Grace teamed up with Emily Turnbull from Quambone to win the galloway pairs.

Alex McLaughlin won her riding class and her pony Peter Pan won his led pony gelding class, his show hunter class and was reserve champion local pony of the show. Alex also placed third in the local turnout competition and notched up a second place in the pair of ponies, riding with Lucy.

Lucy McLaughlin took on the hotly-contested led classes. Realising her mother was no good for leading these days she lined up Janet Hamblin which proved a good move because they won both the under six local and under six open riding classes.

Janet was also brave enough to lead Lucy in the pairs, alongside Alex, and they were awarded second place.

Elsewhere Nyngan Pony Club member Anna Carter is currently competing for her school at the North West Equestrian Expo at Coonabarabran (results to come).

Several Nyngan Pony Club parents are also trying their hand at polocrosse this year. At a Marra Monkees practice session on the weekend Jim Mclaughlin and Angela Taylor both showed some flair - and the club is now eagerly awaiting the debut of Darren Stokes, and also the return of racquet master Dave Motley. Gary and Leanne Hall gave some great tips and welcome anyone else who’d like to have a go.
