Nyngan Pony Club riders were out and about on the long weekend, notching up some great results at both the Warren One-Day Event and Nevertire gymkhana.
Lizzie, Annabelle and Victoria Hoy competed in the Warren One-Day event.
Lizzie, riding ‘Crazy Alice’ won the B grade section and Annabelle on ‘Patch’ won the C grade.
Victoria, on ‘Ellie’, was unlucky to be eliminated in the dressage in the D grade, but did manage clear rounds in both the showjumping and cross-country.
Lizzie was just home from a trip to Victoria where she excelled at both the Melbourne Royal and the National Inter-School Championships, capping off a remarkable few months in both the hack and showjumping rings and proving she is one of the best young riders in the country.
The Hoy family is off to Canberra this week for the State One-Day Event championships.
Nyngan Pony Club was also well represented at the Nevertire gymkhana which has a reputation for being a fun, lighthearted outing.
Sarah and Lauren Moody, Grace and James Carter, Holly and Heidi Stokes, Jack, Alex and Lucy McLaughlin and Hilary and Phoebe Yabsley all took part. All the kids did a great job of representing their club and doing their best in the showjumping and sporting.
In their final gymkhana as members of Nyngan Pony Club, Grace and James Carter took on the D Grade showjumping and did a wonderful job around the tricky courses.
James also won a neckful of ribbons in the sporting. Both James and Grace (and Mark and Sally) will be greatly missed by the club, and hopefully will be back somewhere close once they finish their travelling.
Heidi Stokes was unlucky not to place in the E grade showjumping after a great round, but did well in the sporting.
Sarah Moody was amongst the few not to be eliminated in the first round of E grade jumping and by the end of the day was showing she is also competitive in the sporting events. Lauren Moody also improved throughout the day, and did a great job in her last few events.
Jack and Alex McLaughlin each had a successful day. Jack was runner-up in the seven-and-under nine years pointscore on ‘Angel’ and Alex was consistently in the ribbons all day on ‘Peter Pan’.
Her biggest thrill was a placing in the E grade showjumping.
Phoebe Yabsley and Holly Stokes competed in the six- and-under group.
It was Phoebe’s first gymkhana and she was rewarded with an armful of ribbons. Holly was riding her new horse, ‘Wal’, and also was a prolific ribbon winner.
Hilary Yabsley and Lucy McLaughlin took on the competition in the beginners ring, each winning six ribbons and a bag of lollies.
