Final teams decided

24 Feb, 2010 03:08 PM
The final of the ‘Twilight’ competition will be played this Thursday afternoon if the course is not under flood water. The intention is for the finalists to play on one nine and the other teams to play seven holes on the other nine. There will be a barbecue to follow with prizes for the best score in the seven-hole comp.

Now for the finalists, they are Dunlop Devils and Diva’s from Group 1 who had 15 points for the competition and beat Joblink Plus on a countback to get into the final.

Representing Group 2 is Kevin Martin Plumbing who had 16 points for the competition, one better than Murphy’s Mob who were leaders for a long time during the 11 weeks of the competition. Good luck to both teams, they are pretty evenly matched in any case, a score in the mid forties would be hard to toss.

Saturday’s stableford was a win for the club captain Tim Tulenew. He had a solid 39 points, getting better as the day wore on. Don Lister was the runner-up with 38 points after driving all the way back from Canberra to have a game.

The pin winners were Brian Quinton and Boots Holmes. A good roll-up of 30 golfers for the Sunday Ambrose which was won by neighbours Duncan Aplin and Josh Loxley with 29.88, runners-up being Andrew Burley and Dang Holmes with 30.5.

The ball run-down went to Tim Tulenew and Kurt Whaley 30.63 and Ron Monaghan and Anthony Ah-See 31.25 nett. Pin winners were Josh and Chook Hawley.

The afternoon 4-ball was a breeze for Nigel Wass and Peter Rees with 26 points just four better than Barry Howell and Pat Walsh. The ladies mid-week competition was washed out, hopefully it will be on this Wednesday.

The winners of the weekly ‘Twilight’ prize were Job Link Plus in Group 1 and The Pinnacles in Group 2.

The badge draw this Thursday night is back to $200 as last week’s offering was won by Gai Lister.

The draw and meat raffles will be on after 8pm, also this Thursday night Sharyn Smith has issued a challenge for anyone to beat her paper-made aeroplane come rocket etc. After an impromptu performance last Thursday, the best was a 1948 design which flew and skidded to the kitchen door from the end of the carpet area. Do you think you can beat that?
