Golfers hit holes in one

10 Mar, 2010 01:07 PM
The golfing season got off to a spectacular start with two holes in one over the weekend.

Tex Tomek started it off when he holed out on the 109 metre 4th hole and Nicole Chambers equalled that when she holed out on the 161 metre 2nd hole.

A first time for both players and well done. Sunday’s event, the first of the season, was a three-person Ambrose sponsored by Guy Monoghan, Tim Tulenew and Dave Bartley.

The course wasn’t easy, playing more like a grass green course. The winners were the very last group to finish and they were Anthony Ah-See, Jason Shone and one of the sponsors Tim Tulenew, they were 3 under par off the stick for a 58 nett.

The runners-up were 2 under par and had 58.5 nett. Their team was Ash Dunn and Ron and Guy Monoghan.

Ball winners were Ron Finlay, Glen Smith and Anthony Griffiths 59.5 nett. Graham Tomek, Josh Loxley and Kyle Whaley 59.84 nett. Chicky Parry, Ken and Brendan Burt 60 nett and Oozie Smith, Tony Lewis and Paul Beetson 60.67 nett.

Pin winners for the day were Nicole Chambers, Reg Simpson, Brendon Smith and Duck Grimmond.

There was a very healthy turnout of 48 players. Plenty of events are being sponsored this year by the members themselves which may help increase the field sizes.

Saturday was a Stableford event. It was very one-sided with Tex winning everything bar the runner-up prize. He had 39 points, won the NTP at the 4th and 14th and took out a large slice of the eagle’s nest. Mick Hanlon was the next best with 29 points.

Dolly Ryan with 18 points won the ladies mid-week game, her second win in as many starts. Judy Read was 2nd with 17 points and Rhonda Holmes 3rd on a count back with 16 points, Judy was the pin winner.

Next weekend golf is a Stableford on Saturday and American 2 Ball on Sunday for all of us. The badge draw this Thursday night is for $300 plus the normal meat raffles and meals. Draw is about 8pm.
