‘Late Mail’ takes lead in golf event

10 Feb, 2010 01:35 PM
This week’s twilight golf is the penultimate round.

The leaders in Group One were beaten last week so now ‘The Late Mail’ on 12 points are one clear of three teams.

In Group Two it’s more clear-cut with ‘Murphy’s Mob’ having a one-point lead over ‘Kevin Martin Plumbing’, the nearest after them is ‘Sonia’s Swingers’ on 12 points.

The winners for the weekly prize are ‘The Goodies’ in Group One and ‘Loxley’s Louts’ for the fourth time in a row.

The ladies had a reasonable field for their mid-week, nine-hole event. Helen Rose put a gap in them when she had 23 points, one of her better games, there were three others on 17 points.

The countback winners were Judy Read and Rhonda Holmes, the pin winner was Judy. The only game of golf for the weekend was Sunday’s am ambrose. Saturday and Sunday’s pm golf were washed out.

Chook Hawley must be a good judge of a golfer as he has won three from four games. This time his partner was Anthony Ah-See who is more than handy as a golfer, they had 31.13 nett.

Ball winners were Tony Lewis and Dang Holmes 31.75 nett, Dave Bartley and Don Lister 32.13 on a countback over Ron Monaghan and Ozzie Smith.

The pin winners were Mick Beetson and Chook. The badge draw this Thursday night is for $200 as it was won last week by badge number 656.

Meals are available as usual for a nominal $10.
