Conditions ripe for great weekend at Rose Bowl

09 Jul, 2009 11:30 AM
Nyngan’s female golfers will host the 2009 WD Far West Rose Bowl on July 18 and 19 with 130-150 golfers expected to participate.

With our golf course in fantastic condition and all water holes overflowing, it should be a weekend for some great golf to be played and plenty of social time at the 19th hole.

The Western Districts Far West Rose Bowl was the conception of Betty McKeon from Wellington, former Western Districts Champion many times, to encourage support for clubs in far western NSW. Host clubs are Nyngan, Lightning Ridge, Wanaaring, Darling River, Cobar and Brewarrina.

Local nominations and fees should be submitted by July 10 so that draws for times for the two days can be posted. Nomination forms are on the board.

On July 18 we will play an 18-holes 4BBB medley select. Members are invited to partner one of our visiting women or nominate your own partner.

July 19 will be the Nyngan Ladies Open Tournament over 18 holes with the WD Rose Bowl for teams of three players held in conjunction.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served over the two-day tournament so we are calling on the assistance of all golfers and our good friends for this big weekend.

On the Saturday evening, all will be treated to the greatest ever “Battle of the Choirs”. We hope to have many choirs from the visiting towns.

The Nyngan ladies have been practising for many weeks now for this competition and are expecting a good result for their hard work and dedication from the surprise judges.

Plus we hope to win the WD Rose Bowl.
