Here’s the news for the past two weeks;
Golden Oldies on October 19 winners were Frank Walsh and Doug McDermott. This Tuesday the winners were Frank Walsh, Col Pratt and Phil Gibson. There were no social bowls on the Wednesday as the twilight competition has started. Come along and see some entertaining bowls on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 5.30pm onwards. Some teams are starting to achieve their potential. Friday the 23rd winners on the night were Phil Gibson and Tom O’Neil, runners-up were Mary and Mel Arandale. Friday the 30th the winners were Irish and the Jockey, runners-up were John Quee and Kevin Reynolds.
President’s Day was held Saturday 24th with teams participating from Cobar, Narromine Warren and Nyngan. This was Ron Smith’s first President’s Day as president of the bowls club and everything went off well; presentation of merit awards was made at lunch with the recipients this year as follows.
Merit badge to Tom O’Neil and Ron Sullivan; name bars to Wayne Arandale and Col Pratt; ladies badges to Di Smith and Deb Vane. Winners on the day were Rick Jermyn’s team and the runner-up Phil Gibson’s team. Morning trophy to Jim Waite’s team from Warren and afternoon trophy to Wayne Arandale’s team. On Wednesday the 28th there were two games of championships; Adam Lee played Les Bexon in handicap pairs with Eric Nipperess the marker, Adam Lee the winner and Jenny Parry played Deb Vane in a game of consistency with Jenny Parry the winner.
Friday evening at 5.30pm the final of the mixed pairs between Tayla Conway and Adam Lee playing Deb and Rex Vane; this was a very entertaining game which wasn’t completed until well after 8pm. The 2009 mixed pairs champions are Deb and Rex Vane, congratulations. Ladies check the raffle roster please, Rhonda should be on this week with Latisha Waterhouse the next week.
