There are four weeks of bowls to report due to the forgetfulness and laziness of someone, not saying who was responsible but it wasn’t me (ha ha).
Week one was a great afternoon but down on numbers, I think the reason is we sit or lay down and fall asleep, but we are all getting to the age where a sleep sounds good.
Game 1 was a close game when Myrtle and Margaret beat Elsie and Maureen 6-5, next came Jean and Gwen who beat Ruth and Fran 7-3. The final was a boilover with Jean and Gwen downing Margaret and Myrtle 11-0, Maureen won the door prize.
Week 2 again saw few players turn up. Myrtle and Ruth played Margaret and Bill who won the first game 6-4, Elsie and Maureen looked very confident, but Myrtle and Fran soon took the wind out of them winning 9-4. Myrtle and Fran went on to win over Bill and Margaret 4-3. Fran was the lucky door winner.
The next time we all met was week 3 and the editor was away in Melbourne, but Ruth kept the results so it would make the paper. The two Myrtle’s went down by one to Bill and Margaret 6-5. The score in the next game was Ruth and Dorothy who beat Gwen and Elsie 8-3, in the final Gwen stood in for Ruth to team up with Dorothy to beat Bill and Margaret 7-4.
This week we were nearly back to full force of bowlers. One of the bowlers wasn’t bowling well to start with and she said it was because she ate too much ice-cream for lunch.
The teams up first on the little green mat were Myrtle B and Maureen who won from Myrtle S and Fran 9-4.
Next up were Gwen and Elsie 5-3 winners from Bill and Margaret. Dorothy and Margaret who came up against the sisters Ruth and Fran and a hand shake when they bowled well. It was an exciting game to watch but in the end the sisters were beaten 7-5.
The semi-final saw Myrtle B and Maureen just beat Gwen and Elsie 4-3. The final was just as close but in the end Myrtle and Maureen were the winners from Dorothy and Margaret 3-2. Myrtle S won the door prize.
See you all next week, same time, same place.
