Here’s the news for the weeks finishing November 8 and 15.
Saturday October 31 saw the first of the Christmas tournaments, check the ladies board on the way into the club and put your name down for the following event. This Saturday November 21 the Lamb Pairs are on, check nomination and starting time. Following events are on:
December 5 - President Pairs
December 12 - Pork Pairs. There could be some date changes with some of these events so check the ladies board on the way into the club for nomination form.
December 14 the grass green is out for renovation until further notice.
Ham Pairs winners on November 7 were Moo Thornton and John Darcy; morning went to Doug McDermott and Bill Barrow and the afternoon to Don and Ron Smith.
On Saturday November 14 the second round of the Ham Pairs were played with the following winners; the holiday makers, Jenny Parry and Darrell Anderson were the overall winners, morning trophy went to Marie and Les Bexon and the afternoon trophy to Andrew Reynolds and John Quee.
On Sunday November 1 a triples team of Phil Gibson, Tim Ryan and Paul Williams won morning bowls.
Golden Oldies winners were Phil Gibson and Frank Walsh.
Friday winners were Rex and Deb Vane who are on a winning streak at the moment.
Diggers’ Day was held on Saturday November 7 and the winners were Rex, Deb Vane and Lyn Hawley - the bus company wins again.
Runner-up was a team from Narromine. The morning trophy went to Ron Sullivan and team and the afternoon trophy went to Phil Gibson and team another player who has been prominent in the winner’s circle.
Sunday saw the pairing of John Quee and Stan Morison came home the winners.
Three teams went to Cobar Memorial for the Copper City Pairs; Tom Howard and Bill Barrow; Wayne Arandale and Don Smith and Moo Thornton and Todd Rope.
Moo and Todd were lucky and had three wins plus 38 on the Saturday but ended up with the best card for that day and weren’t in the money overall.
The following championships took place; Rex Vane defeated Bill Barrow in the final of the consistency for 2009 and in the minor singles Todd Rope defeated Moo Thornton.
Monday and Tuesday saw Tayla Conway contest the State elimination singles at Dubbo on Monday and then paired up with Melissa Arandale to contest the elimination pairs. Bowlers - men and women. The nomination forms for 2010 events are on your respective boards, a closing date will go up some time, please enter yourself and team in the respective events. Consistency played this week for the ladies was between Helen Beetson and Marie Bexon with Helen the winner. Sunday winners for the 15th were Ron Sullivan and Paul Williams. Ladies check the board for the pennant nomination form - remember that we will have to practice on the mat as the grass green will be out from December 14. Raffle roster for this week is Latisha Waterhouse with Di Wynne on the 23rd. There will be a ladies meeting on Friday December 18 at 5pm. The last couple of weeks the weather has been really hot, so remember your slip, slop and slap, play games late or very early, let the greenkeeper know.
