The long weekend mixed triples had 22 teams from throughout the State travelling from Wagga, Mona Vale, Coonabarabran, Trangie, West Dubbo and Warren, 11 rinks, 66 bowlers all together.
Saturday started with fine weather but as per the forecast we had a need for the trusty umbrella as the heavens opened up late in the afternoon with an average of four ends to go on each rink.
Wet weather gear with snorkles was almost required for the last couple of ends that finished in pouring rain.
After the first day of play there were only two teams with three game wins, Barry Beetson’s team with a 30 plus and R Sayer’s team with 18 plus.
The next best teams were B Barrow’s team with two game wins plus 29, A Lee plus 24, C Hart plus 15, A Homer plus 10.
It was very heavy going for the bowlers who came out to play on Sunday morning with another three games for every one to play.
As the day went on and games were close it came down to Barry Beetson’s team trying to keep Adam Lee’s team out of first place but were unsuccessful.
As the second day came to a close there were two teams in first place so they went back to the margin and it was the same, then they had to go to the percentage of ends which gave Adam Lee’s team the win by 2 per cent over Tim Wark’s team from Coona.
R Sayer came in 3rd, J Wynne’s team 4th, Barry Beetson’s team 5th and A Swift in 6th place.
Round winners for the weekend were: Round 1 C Hart’s team, round 2 Bill Barrow’s team, round 3 Todd Rope’s team, round four Marie Bexon’s team, round five Conrad Conway’s team and round six John Chalker’s team.
There was a green bowls bag lost with a Warren logo on the side of the bag. If you have any information about this bag could you please contact Nyngan bowling club.
We would also like to take the time to thank Mick Parry for all his hard work to make the weekend run smoothly as well as the green keepers.
