It’s full steam ahead for our Tigers in 2010

11 Nov, 2009 02:06 PM
It is only weeks after the end of the football season and already we are gearing up for a big 2010 season.

With thoughts of summer and cricket prominent in our minds we are still reminded of the football with our national team, the Kangaroos in the final of the four nations, so to on the home front with preparations under way both locally and at the group level.

Delegates from Nyngan attended the group AGM on Sunday the 8th where new president Ross McDermott was elected to head the committee.

The former treasurer takes over from long-standing President Jock Colley and is looking to carry on the good work of his predecessor, with an innovative and approachable style that will see the group in good hands for the years to come.

One of the new ideas and a main point of general discussion was an NRL trial game to be held in Dubbo between the Bulldogs and Canberra Raiders on February 27.

The group has been in discussion with both clubs along with the NRL to arrange this match as a fundraiser for the clubs within Group X1.

All clubs will benefit from the proceeds of the gate so we encourage everyone to make themselves available to attend what has been assured will be a top-class rugby league game right here in the Central West.

Both teams will be fielding their strongest sides as it is the pre-season competition and an important trial leading up to the start of the Telstra Cup competition.

Two hundred tickets will be available from the club, $30 for grandstand seats and $20 for the outer and will be sold in town at selected venues.

The Nyngan AGM will be held at The Overlander on November 20 at 7pm. Anyone interested in being a part of the committee or just being involved are welcome to come along.

Our annual 300 club draw will be held this Friday November 13 at the Overlander.

This is always a great night and a chance to be a winner with the first prize of $10,000, 2 x second prize $1000 and 10 x chances to win $100.

There are still some tickets left. They are $100 which gives you and a partner entry, drinks and nibbles as well as a chance to win.

If you want a ticket ring Marty on 0417 626 391 or Alister on 0428 239 491.

This week will see our 2010 sponsor letters go out.

We have enjoyed tremendous support from our local businesses over many years and we thank you all.

It has been said many times but without the support we get from our sponsors we could not continue.

It is with this in mind that we ask you to again consider sponsoring the Tigers for the new season and be a part of our proud club.
