Anniversary shoot held at Hermidale

Thirty-four shooters from Mt Coolah, Warren, Cowra, Cobar, Brewarrina, Canowindra, Korumburra (Vic), Glen Innes, Narromine and Hermidale competed in the 30th Anniversary Clay Target shoot at the Hermidale Gun Club.

Saturday was partly cloudy, humid and the flies were very friendly too.

The first event was a 25 target eye opener 15m graded cash divide.

Successful shooters were:

AA Grade: M Chellas, J Lawrence, C Betts.

A Grade: K Walton, S Kinsey, Jim Manns, James Manns.

B Grade: H Pritchard, J Chapple, S Dickson, T Pitkin, Kevin Walton, G Fennamore, D Willliamson, N Kilmartin.

C Grade: S Nash, R Sullivan.

Second event for Saturday was the 25 target West Bogan Double Barrel Championship 15m.

Overall winner won by Colin Betts after a shoot off 59/59.

AA Grade 1st M Chellas 58/59, 2nd T Dickson 39/40.

A Grade 1st J Owen 36/37, 2nd G Jones 35/36.

B Grade 1st G Fennamore 32/33, 2nd T Pitkin 29/30.

C Grade 1st Bob Clifford 22/25, 2nd R Sullivan 20/25.

Sub Junior Aaron Leek 17/25.

Third event for the day was the 20 Pair Double Rise.

No possibles achieved.

AA Grade 1st C Betts 37/40, 2nd J Lawrence 34/40.

A Grade 1st James Manns 45/50, 2nd P Boland 50/60.

B Grade 1st J Chapple 50/60, 2nd T Pitkin 49/60.

C Grade 1st S Nash, 2nd Bob Clifford 22/40.

Before shooters took to the tracks for the night event a beautiful barbecue meal was served and enjoyed by all.

Many thanks to Fay, Jackie and the hard working kitchen staff. Noel Lennon then auctioned all shooters in the calcutta. Many thanks Noel for a great job.

There was also a visit from Madam and her girls for a short stint of entertainment. Thanks to all for providing a laugh.

Seventeen squads then shot in the 20 Pair Night Western Zone Deauville Doubles. Three possible scores were recorded and after a shoot-off results were:

1st Jim Manns and James Manns 40/41.

2nd Trevor Higgins and Tom Dickson 39/41.

Shooters were up early on Sunday morning to the smell of bacon, eggs, sausages and coffee before the start of Sunday’s program. Five more shooters added to the squads on Sunday. Thanks to all for your help in the preparation of breakfast.

First event for Sunday was the 25 Target Point Score 15m event. No possibles recorded.

AA Grade 1st Bryan Manns 74/75, 2nd Colin Betts 73/75.

A Grade 1st Jim Manns 111/114, 2nd James Manns 110/114.

B Grade 1st G Fennamore 72/75, 2nd D Codrington 69/75.

C Grade 1st S Nash 63/75, 2nd Trudi Tulloh 62/75.

The 25 Target Double Barrel Handicap (Calcutta) Event was next. Two possible scores were recorded. Results:

1st James Manns 33/33.

2nd Gary Jones 32/33.

3rd Bill Dewhurst 26/27.

4th Sid Kinsey 26/28.

5th Dallas Codrington 30/33.

The last event for the weekend was the 25 Target Single Barrel 15m event.

Results:

AA Grade 1st B Manns 46/48, 2nd T Dickson 45/48.

A Grade 1st James Manns 30/30, 2nd Jim Manns 29/30.

B Grade 1st D Codrington 25/25, 2nd D Tulloch 33/34.
