Nyngan Pony Club finished its competition year with its annual twilight gymkhana held on home turf last weekend with riders coming from Dubbo, Warren, Rawsonville, Tottenham and Nevertire.
There were six sporting events, a round of showjumping and the ever-popular six-bar jumping under lights.
Despite the hot weather the day went well with many kids notching up some great results and demonstrating how much they have improved throughout the year.
Nyngan kids did especially well in the showjumping. In the E grade Sophie Yabsley, Lucy McLaughlin and Holly Stokes and Hilary Yabsley took out the first four spots. Phoebe Yabsley won the D grade, Alex McLaughlin was fifth in the C grade and Maddie Harley won the B grade.
A big thank you to Sharon Bonello for judging this part of the day.
In the six-bar there were plenty of thrills and a couple of spills. Maddie Harley jumped the highest on Gem, reaching 1.2m to win, just ahead of Alex McLaughlin on Jimmy McElroy at 1.15m.
At the end of the day most of the Nyngan kids rolled out their swags and camped the night.
A big thank you to club president Dave Motley who did so much of the setting up, as well as Bruce and Kate Yabsley, Darren and Kim Stokes, Elaine Johnston (what would we do without her), Dione Carter, Joel Waterhouse and the Bogan Shire who helped with all the line marking and had the ground in great shape.
Next on the calendar is the club Christmas party and presentation on Sunday, December 16 at 5pm at the clubhouse. We would love to see any past and present members, life members and friends at this.
