Sunday’s fourball produced some remarkable scores. The winners Jeef Leek and Allan Holmes rattled up 49 points with 28 of them on the back nine.
Jeff had a day to remember scoring 14 times and having four pointers on three occasions, his partner Boots got into the act finally with a birdie on the 18th.
Runners-up, with nearly as good a score, was Steve Peterson and Tex Tomek with 48 points.
They had 24 points on each nine with Tex scoring on 10 holes.
When Peto got on the card they were mostly three pointers, between them they had five birdies.
Next best with 47 points were Les Dorrington and Col Pratt, their score would win more often than not.
Just one point adrift of third place were Don Lister and Barry Howell with 46 points.
Pin winners were Tex, Peto and Mr Lister.
The ladies played for a WD spoon, adding another one to her collection was Mim Pateman with 37 points, a birdie on the 17th worth four points made her day.
Robyn Harris had 34 points with a heap and a half of one point holes in her round, Dolly Ryan had 34 points also. She was half-time leader, a couple of washouts on the back nine was her undoing.
Saturday’s winner of the stableford game was Pat Walsh with 40 points by far his best for some considerable time.
John Wynne had 39 points which included a washout on Carter’s fence and a fair few bogeys on the short par threes (he also managed an eagle on the 7th in Sunday’s game with a short chip).
Andy Lane was a ball winner with 32 points in a five-way countback.
Pin winners were Jeef Leek, Chook Hawley and Allan Holmes.
Next weekend Saturday’s game is a stroke event and on Sunday for all it’s the Whitty Trophy Day sponsored by Ken Whiley.
An early start for those who wish to play golf and go to the football has been arranged.
Badge draw is for $1300 on Thursday night, the Joker is at $900.
