Obviously exhibitors considered a trip to the 2013 AGL Expo a worthwhile investment.

Nyngan Ag Expo committee chair Rob Avard said exhibitors were up on last year by 18 per cent and the crowd exceeded all expectations. 

“The locals of Nyngan and people of the wider community who attended have assisted greatly in contributing to Can Assist - benefactor of this year’s  event and to the education scholarship set up by this fantastic group of volunteers”, he said. 

Visitors came from as far afield as Katoomba, Hartley, Toukley, Broken Hill, Inverell, Gilgandra and Brewarrina to visit the exhibitors from as far as Western Australia, Victoria and the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. 

The response from exhibitors was exceptional with 52 new exhibitors attracted by ‘word of mouth’ recommendations from others who attended in previous years. 

Ex residents Michael Smith and Melody Harris expressed their delight at seeing such an event in their old home town.

 “It’s fantastic to see how the town and particularly the expo have expanded and grown,” they said.

Porky Dillon from Cobar was amazed at “how big” the expo was. He had heard of the expo, but this was his first year and he said he would definitely be back next year. 

Event organiser Robyn Harris felt that part of the expo’s appeal was the access to the experts it enabled, providing a wealth of opportunities to talk face-to-face with experienced people in many fields. 

“Word of mouth had given the AGL Nyngan Ag Expo committee an excellent reputation for being friendly, good value and based in a great town”. 

Special events like Expo with support of AGL as the major sponsor are vital to the continuing well-being of the rural sector and even when times are tough, agri-business needs to stay up-to-date with the latest products and services. ­

Indeed, in difficult times, most farming enterprises work harder to make their operations more efficient and productive.

“The success of this event can only be attributed to the committee who spend the year planning the construction of Ag Expo, new ideas are discussed at length, plans for change given much consideration and we are fortunate that site planning and change by Lach Wallis with assistance from Don Lister, the addition of the children’s entertainment area and the also the car “Show ‘n’ Shine” concept from Craig and Michelle Rowley all proved a resounding success on the day.” said, Mr. Avard.
