Her first Nyngan service will be at 9am on Sunday March 2.
Rev Jo will live in Cobar and will serve the townships of Cobar and Nyngan and will also provide ministry to people on isolated properties, mine sites and the smaller communities in her patrol area.
Rev Jo’s husband, Lou, has given up his regular employment to assist and travel with his wife as they minister to the needs of the people of the patrol.
Living in Broken Hill Jo travelled with the previous patrol minister.
“It gave me a real appreciation of the difficulties faced by many people living in isolated properties and communities,” she said.
“As I listened I realised how much people look forward to a visit from the patrol minister.
“Whether it be chatting over a cuppa or helping out with something around the property, they appreciate the fact that someone cares enough to come and spend time with them.
“Having worked in childcare for nearly 20 years I also loved hearing the stories of the children and watching the unique ways they cope with the isolation they face as they grow up.”
