Off we go into the 2014 golfing season.
The first group to greet the judge in Sunday’s Opening Day ambrose were Robyn Harris, Abby Lane and Allan Holmes with a 55.84 nett.
They were steady all day with one birdie, one boggy and the rest pars. They had a well-deserved win over Dolly Ryan, Nicole Chambers and Anthony Ah-See with by far the best scratch score of 63 gross but not a lot of handicap to finish with 56.34 nett.
Dang Holmes, Brendan Burt and Mark Beetson were ball winners with 57.17 nett. They had their share of birdies with just one boggy on the 12th.
Pin winners were Dolly, Andy Lane, Ron Monaghan and Tony Lewis.
On the comeback trail is Wokka Herbert, he looks to be fairly handy still and a top notch putter.
No starters for Saturday golf but there was a nine-hole scamper on Thursday night.
Teams of three with a 5pm start, first with 23.17 nett was ‘Boagies, Birdies and Pa’, next best was ‘Kevin Martin Plumbing’ with 24.34 nett.
Pin winners were Anthony Ah-See, Brad McDougall and Brendan Wykes. There will be a couple more Thursday games until daylight saving ends.
In the ladies’ mid week competition Nicole Chambers had a win with 19 points and Helen Rose was the lucky draw winner.
Next Saturday is the Rugby League Day, 10 holes of par threes commencing at 2.30pm. Jeremy Whaley is the bloke in charge.
Sunday’s game is an 18-hole American two-ball medley select sponsored by Nyngan Quality Meats, draw from 12pm to 12.45pm.
Badge draw this Thursday night is for $300.
o The team of Reg Simpson, Robyn Harris, Dave Martin and missing player Abby Lane came home in third place at the Twilight closing day golf afternoon.
