The theme for 2014 is “Connecting to Reading - Reading to Connect”.
The library has all the award winners and nominated books on display and they will be available for loan next week.
The winners for 2014 are:
Older Readers winner -
Wildlife by Fiona Wood;
Honour Books: Fairy tales for Wilde Girls by Allyse Near;
The Sky so Heavy by Claire Zorn.
Younger Readers winner -
A City of Orphans: a very unsual pursuit by Catherine Jinks;
Honour Books: My Life as an Alphabet by Barry Jonsberg;
Light Horse Boy by Dianne Wolfer.
Early childhood winner -
The Swap by Jan Ormerod;
Honour Books: I’m a Dirty Dinosaur by Janeen Brian;
Banjo and Ruby Red by Libby Gleeson.
Picture book winner -
Rules of Summer by Shaun Tan;
Honour Books: King Pig by Nick Bland, Silver Buttons by Bog Graham.
Eve Pownall Award for information books winner -
Jeremy by Christopher Faille;
Honour Books: Welcome to My Country by Laklak Burrawanga and Family, Ice, Wind, Rock by Peter Gouldthorpe.
The Book Link Reading Program will be hosting the Presentation Party on Thursday August 21 at 3.30 pm in the library for all those children who participated in the reading program.
Children who took part should have handed in their Reading Log Books by last Friday, August 8.
Children’s Story Time continues on Tuesday September 2 and 16 at 10.30am for Term 3.
The Tech Savvy for Seniors sponsored by Telstra is going well. I will continue to have more sessions on Tuesday August 26 and Wednesday August 27 for anyone who wishes to have a lesson. Please contact the library 6835 9080.
