Daniel Ian Hawkins, 22, of Dubbo, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Andrew Eckhold.
A solicitor said Hawkins had made a silly mistake.
"He was trying to earn some money," the solicitor said.
"He is employed and supported by his mother in court.
"He is involved in the community and has completed a traffic offender education program."
Magistrate Eckhold said driving while suspended was a serious offence.
"It is hard to get from one side of Dubbo to the other without a licence let alone work as a pizza delivery driver," the magistrate said.
"You took a gamble and lost. Driving is heavily regulated because lives can be risked."
The court heard Hawkins was travelling 30km/h in a 50km/h zone in Fiztroy Street at 11.58am on July 2.
"You were stopped because police happened to know you were a suspended driver," Magistrate Eckhold said.
The charge was dismissed without conviction after Hawkins entered into an agreement to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
"This is an opportunity you will only get once," Magistrate Eckhold said.
"Think about your driving behaviour in the future."
