They came, like gorillas through the mist, to challenge the icy waters of the Nyngan swimming pool in their weekly Splashers challenge.
This week their numbers dwindled to a mere seven, due to Greg Sneakin Deacon vacationing in tropical Cairns amongst the crocodiles and jellyfish, Doug Zorba Smith and Heath Drover’s Pup Smith on work commitments, Roz Frogman Miller enjoying the highlights of Dubvegas and a bunch of wusses who were not brave enough to take the plunge this week at the Splashatorium.
Results were as follows:
30 Metres Final
1st Penny Bomber Hoy
2nd Lyn Mouse Hodge
3rd Liam Lean Lamb Fletcher

Our Mate Col Eldridge once again turned up to timekeep and assures us that his injury will not keep him out of his Speedos next week.
Nigel Swivelneck Tyack “slept in” and missed the 30 metre events … no one knows what he had been up to but he failed to feature on the podium, except for the Brace Relay where Penny Bomber Hoy had to carry him through for the win.
Wendy Tick Tock Lovett was back on pool deck this week, keeping the timekeepers on their toes and an iron grip on the stop watches.
A spirited discussion broke out poolside as to how Liam Lean Lamb Fletcher got his name – it is believed by some that he is the long forgotten heir to Fletchers Meats in Dubbo and has been trying to prove his ancestry for some time – DNA testing may be required.
By the end of the last race we had warmed up and enjoyed a hearty breakfast at the RSL Club. Some of those who had not managed to snare a chicken in the races were lucky enough to have a win in the chicken raffle and meat tray draws.
The Western Districts Committee meeting followed with plans being put in place for the very popular carnival to be held in Nyngan on February 8, 2015.
New members are always welcome – timekeepers are always appreciated and we all enjoy the comraderie of our swimming club. We meet at 9am every Sunday, followed by our famous breakfast – come along and see what we are all about.
The quote of the day came from our most consistent cheergirl, Bev Strang, mother of Bec Wazza Fletcher, who remarked “This isn’t natural – you are all MAD…”
By the way, the water isn’t that cold - once you’re in!!!
