o A great roll-up for the annual Scrambrose sponsored by Adrian and Luan Hawley and Graham and Angela Jackson on Sunday. Adrian Hawley with winners Dean Woods, Brad Toole and David Rose.
o Dave Rose, Graham Jackson, Mark Keighran and Tony Holmes are not often ‘Off In The Woods’.
o Anthony Ah-See, Adrian Hawley, Dave Bartley and Jamie Barrow make up this team ably named ‘The Rough Nuts’.
Sixty players took part in Sunday’s Scrambrose in century-plus heat and a few willy willies made the game a little bit harder - even those in billy carts did it tough.
The scores were out of this world. With the worst score six better than par the best was going to be a ripper.
David Rose, Dean Woods and Brad Toole proved to be the best combination with a 54.5 nett, six under par for the day, they can dine on ham on Christmas Day.
Second place was a countback. Getting the bacon by a third of a shot was the family trio of Anthony and Vicky Ah-See along with Dolly Ryan with 55.5 nett.
Also on the same score and winners of the schooner vouchers were Rex Vane, John Wynne and Mick Beetson.
As lawn bowlers they make very handy golfers.
The ball rundown went to the Lewis clan: Dad, Damian and Tim also Dave Bartley, Allan Holmes and Alan Bridge plus Keiro, Mart Smith and Robyn Harris.
Winners of the scratchies who may scratch a fortune were Tony Holmes, Dang Holmes and Chook Hawley, Greg Matheson, Codge McCarthy and John Tyson.
Long drive winners were Dang on the fifth which would have to be 300 metres plus and Robyn Harris on the sixth which was a whopper as well.
Mystery prize winners were Adi, Lurk and James Stanton and a special trophy to Andy, Dorro and James W Barrow.
The day’s trophies of hams were donated by Chook and Luan Hawley and the scratchies by Graham and Angela Jackson from Nyngan Newsagency, a sincere thank you to them for their generosity.
Saturday’s par event had a small field and good scores setting the pace early on was Barry Howell who was 6 up early on then faded to finish with +3.
Tex was miles behind at one stage, a great finish by him on the back nine left him also on +3.
Splitting the pair of them and biding his time was Pat Walsh with +4, no washouts for him a big help. Pin winners were Barry and Warren Murray.
The ladies have their 9-hole summer comp up and running, Helen Rose starred with 22 points, a little bit behind was Betty Munro 19 points on a countback over Dolly. Lucky draw winner Bron Bridge.
Twilight golf is under way with 17 rounds to play.
Summer Sundays golf kicks in next week with a 2-person ambrose medley select, tee off from 8.30am.
There are two $700 prizes this Thursday night, one for the badge draw and one for the lucky putter (one chance from about 3 metres).
