In its first year in operation the Mobile Service Centre will visit Nyngan, Cobar, Brewarrina, Goodooga and Collarenebri to offer Centrelink and Medicare payments and services, Child Support information and hearing health checks.
Mobile Service Centre Manager Helen Volkers said the Mobile Service Centre was a travelling outreach service that shortened the distance between rural and regional communities and government services.
“We’re pleased to be bringing the new Mobile Service Centre to regional NSW. Golden Wattle is a mid-range rigid truck set up as an office, that has been custom-built so we can reach isolated regional communities that our larger Mobile Service Centres have been unable to access.
“Golden Wattle has the same technology as any Medicare or Centrelink Service Centre, including access to self-service facilities. It’s also wheelchair accessible and has a soundproof room where we can conduct free hearing health checks.
“The staff on board are specialists in rural servicing and offer information and services tailored to meet the needs of each community.
“Come along and visit us when we’re in town. Our staff can help you with:
o new claims for a wide range of Centrelink payments
o updating customer information
o confirming customer documents and supporting information
o information on how financial matters may impact on Centrelink payments
o payment and service options to suit individual circumstances
o rural payment entitlements for eligible farmers
o non-cash Medicare transactions
o Medicare registrations
o information on Child Support payment and service options
o specialist support and referrals
o support with and access to self service facilities
o free hearing health checks.
