Aboriginal culture was another course students from Nyngan High School enjoyed with Aunty Iris and Aunty Di.
During the past two weeks stage 5 Nyngan High School students have had the opportunity to be involved in seven skills days offered by TAFE Western.
The students were engaged in hands-on activities in Children’s Services, Mining, Small Motors, Automotive, Electrotechnology, Aboriginal Culture and Express Coffee.
The days were aimed at encouraging the students to broaden their career ideas and give them an insight into the industries. The students found the days very rewarding.
Nyngan High School Careers Advisor, Mrs Noelene Walsh said this was a wonderful opportunity for our students to access this information and get hands-on experience here in Nyngan.
“I was successful in gaining funding for 50 students to complete their White Cards,” she said. “This is a valuable qualification, that many employers require, delivered by Work Cover and covers Work, Health and Safety.’’
Mrs Walsh would like to extend her gratitude to Patsy Saul and Sue Skidmore from TAFE Western for all their support and assistance in organising these days.
She would also like to congratulate the students on their participation and behaviour as all the TAFE staff commented on what a credit these students are to their school, family and community.
