Nothing came easy for all golfers during the past week. Plenty of grass long and short to contend with.
First up was Saturday’s stroke event won by Nicole Chambers with a 71 nett. She played very well indeed on the back nine except for the river hole where she got into all sorts of trouble and took an eight.
Runner-up on a countback was Wil Thorncroft. He along with his mate Angus Lennon hope to be around the traps for quite awhile.
Pin winner was Nicole on the fourth and 12th. The only man worth a mention is Jeff Leek who top-scored with 113 off the stick, also a windy on the 10th with a swing that resembled a hammer throw plus sticking his ball in the fork of a tree on the 16th.
To cap his day off he ran over his sunnies on the 18th, but said he would be back for more next week.
Sunday’s ambrose had 30 starters, not much difference between first and last score-wise.
At the top of the pile was Mick Beetson and John Wynne with 32 nett, birdies on the 10th and 15th gave them a slight edge over Wokka and Greg Herbert on 32.25 nett.
The only real bad hole was a double bogey six on the 15th.
Pin winners were Codge McCarthy and Dorro. The people marking Chooks card were very sure he also missed the ball on the 13th, any movement was wind assisted.
Round 8 of Twilight saw ‘Aussie Hotel’ the week’s best. They along with ‘Team Elite’ have 12 points and are equal second.
Outright leaders with a three-point advantage are ‘Bogan Bunkers’ after another win.
Badge draw this Thursday night is for $900, also the putting competition is under way.
Please don’t forget subs are due for 2015, there are plenty of categories to choose from.
