The cheques had bounced upon presentation at the bank with some businesses losing thousands of dollars.
On Sunday January 22 police were alerted that a woman was trying to cash cheques at various businesses.
Police responded and found two suspects in a car near Hospital Road.
A 29-year-old Dubbo woman was arrested and the vehicle searched. The woman was wanted for numerous fraud offences committed from Tweed Heads to Dubbo.
She was charged with multiple counts and will face court at a later date. Inquiries are continuing into possible co-offenders.
Police advise local businesses to exercise caution when accepting cheques. Consider a policy that requires multiple photo ID cards and place a low limit on cash.
About 8.05pm on Friday January 23 2015 police stopped a car on the Mitchell Highway for a random breath test as it drove through Nyngan.
The driver, a 30-year-old South Australian man, returned a positive test. A subsequent breath analysis gave a reading of 0.052, resulting in the issue of a Court Attendance Notice for Low Range PCA.
A long-running investigation into a series of farm trespasses has resulted in a 21-year-old Nyngan man being issued a Court Attendance Notice.
Police were notified of an incident in August 2014 where a ute had been chased from a property south of Nyngan.
A dog had fallen from the ute during the chase and was collected by police, along with other evidence.
The owner of the dog was identified but stated his dog had been stolen two weeks previously.
The suspect stated he had been in Warren at the time of the offence and nominated two women as his alibis.
Police checked the suspect’s alibis and the two women advised they had been asked by the suspect to lie if asked about his whereabouts.
The suspect will face Nyngan Local Court next month.
