Our day began with the special celebration of a whole-school Mass with parents, grandparents, family members and parishioners joining with the students for the Mass.
After Mass our guests came along to the school and enjoyed morning tea which was provided by parents and staff. Visitors were then invited to MacKillop Hall, which was transformed into a library, for our book fair.
Following morning tea we had open classrooms when our visitors were shown the learning the students are undertaking in the new mathematics curriculum. Parents wandered through the rooms seeing all the wonderful work our students have been completing so far this year. They were also able to join with the students for group work activities.
As the bell rang lunch was served with family, friends, staff and students of St Joseph’s School enjoying sausage and steak sandwiches that were washed down with cold soft drinks and ‘zooper dooper’ ice blocks.
A big thank you to Mr Whaley for cooking the barbecue for us.
Sincere appreciation to our diocesan office in Forbes for the Catholic Schools’ Week funding which enabled the staff of St Joseph’s to treat our school community to a luncheon together and to our SRC and parents who helped out on the day to ensure a wonderful day was enjoyed by all.
Thanks to all members of St Joseph’s school community who came together to celebrate this special occasion with us and made it a fantastic start to Catholic Schools’ Week for 2015.
