After making light work of the Roosters 46-12 the week before, “Hedders” men went on with the job against Wellington to secure a solid 24-8 victory.
Down 8-0 after 23 minutes, the Spacemen fought back to run in five unanswered tries and claim a memorable win.
Wellington led 8-4 at the break but had no answer for a determined Parkes outfit in the second half.
The home side started the better and had the Spacemen under intense pressure, forcing them to defend their line for long periods.
Parkes spent most of the first stanza defending in their own half with the Cowboys eventually breaking through when their centre crossed for the opener.
When they doubled their lead in the 23rd minute, signs were not looking good for the Spacemen.
A try just before half-time as Craig Edwards put the finishing touches on a good team move buoyed the visitors as they headed to the sheds.
Parkes came out of the break determined to produce better football in the second half and came close to levelling with chances to Edwards and Aubrey Milson falling agonisingly short.
However, Parkes took the lead 10 minutes into the second half when hooker Jake O’Brien scored a clever try under the posts for Ricky Newham to goal for 10-8.
The Spacemen did not look back and when Sam Lavis was on the end of a good backline move, Parkes were in again.
A very good conversion from the sideline saw the visitors out to an eight point lead at 16-8.
Tim Waqaisavou set up Parkes’ third try in 19 minutes when he made a good run for Fred Edwards to capitalise on and extend the gap to 20-8.
Showing a good deal of commitment, the Spacemen did not take their foot of the pedal and continued to pressure the Cowboys defence.
That pressure paid off when Fred Edwards made a good break up the middle of the park.
With no close support, Edwards kicked through with Sam Lavis showing plenty of pace to chase down the kick and score a good try.
The conversion was missed but the Spacemen had done enough to claim the points 24-8.
Parkes will face a winless Dubbo Westside this Saturday at Pioneer Oval.
