The award, along with that of Nurse of the Year which went to Francis Glenn from Cowra, was announced recently on International Nurses Day.
Western NSW Local Health District joined the rest of the world in saluting nursing staff on International Nurses Day.
Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Adrian Fahy said the day was about recognising all nursing staff and acknowledging their dedication and commitment towards helping others.
“International Nurses Day is a chance to say thankyou to our nurses and a great opportunity to recognise the challenges, demands and rewards of being a nurse,’’ he said.
“Nurses are an integral part of our health system as they not only deliver health care to our patients, but they also provide support and advice to people in need.”
To coincide with International Nurses Day, the Health District acknowledged exceptional performance by awarding the Nurse of the Year and Nursing Team of the Year for 2015 at special ceremonies.
“It was very difficult to choose from so many outstanding nominations, which demonstrates the highly-skilled staff we have working in our health district. Both Francis Glenn from Cowra and the team in Nyngan are truly deserving of this accolade this year and we congratulate them ,” Mr Fahy said.
“We are very proud to have such a strong and dedicated nursing workforce and I would like to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge the incredible work that our nurses do all day, every day.’’
International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on the birth date of iconic nurse Florence Nightingale.
