Arrangements were finalised for our street stall on May 8 which was most successful and a big thank you goes to those who supported it in any way. The load of firewood was won by May Clark and the open order by Kay Taylor. Our members really appreciate the donation of the firewood by Maryanne and Bernie Bourke.
Our room secretary Kay reported regular hiring of our rooms and a load of firewood to be purchased for the winter months.
Our international officer Maryanne relayed some most interesting facts about life in Italy which is our country of study this year. Handicraft officer Grace is asking members to try their hand at making a toy from recycled materials for the Gladys Brooks competition at the November council meeting. We look forward to hearing Grace’s report of State Conference next meeting.
Cultural officer Val is busy organising our items for Cultural Day. The next practise is at 12.30pm on Friday June 5 (meeting day).
Plans for the renovations on our building are well under way and we await a second quote for the work to be done.
Following the meeting we were delighted to welcome President Betty’s grandson Declan Jackson and his mother and sister, when we were treated to a wonderful recitation of a piece Declan had written about the Anzacs, based on the war diaries of his great grandfather.
Thoroughly enjoyed by all lucky enough to be present and we wish Declan well at the CWA public speaking competition at Narromine.
Next meeting is 1.30pm on Friday June 5 when visitors and new members are always most welcome.
