It was also our International Day and much planning for this event had been done by our International Officer Kylie Currans and Branch President Dawn Elder.
Members arrived at our hall about 9.30am and we then enjoyed listening to our guest speaker, Mrs Betsy Donohoe who has visited our country under study, Italy, on quite a few occasions.
After this morning tea was enjoyed and we then tried out our general knowledge on Italy.
Next on the program for the day was going to the Hermidale school and we were welcomed by the school Principal, Leone Dewhurst.
The children were in traditional costumes and performed quite a few enjoyable items pertaining to Italy.
It was most obvious that they had done much study on this country.
We then enjoyed an Italian luncheon and made our way back to the CWA hall and had our monthly meeting.
Day Care are coming out to witness our Cultural concert on Monday August 17 and for the lunch we will be serving chicken and sausage dishes, plus sweets.
Our raffle evening at the RSL Club on Friday evening, June 26, conducted by Dawn Elder and Mary Dutton was most successful.
Another discussion at our meeting was held regarding looking into the possibility of mothers being able to have their babies born at Cobar, Bourke and Nyngan hospitals.
Our meeting then concluded and we all enjoyed our afternoon tea and a friendly chat to each other.
Practice for Cultural Day is going along well under the guiding eye of Gladys Thompson and Margaret Gudgeon.
Our next meeting will be Wednesday July 29 and will be having Cultural Day practice starting at 10am and meeting at 2pm.
See everyone there.
Mary Dutton.
