The President’s Trophy was the highlight of the golfing week.
Once again the right handers were way too good for the lefties who were a bit light on numbers and borrowed a few players to even the numbers up, better luck next year lefties.
Individual winner was Tex Tomek with 34 points a fair score
in the heavy conditions, no washouts for him but plenty of one pointers.
Having his first for a long time and finishing with 32 points was Brendan Smith, a washout on the 11th and plenty of one pointers kept him on the back foot, way back to 29 points to find the third
spot and Les Dorrington got the better of Warren Murray on a countback.
Pin winners were Brendan and a double to Dorro.
Saturday’s scores were not much better than Sunday’s except for Tex who managed 39 points.
All that midweek practice had him firing from the word go.
A long margin back to the
placings with three players on 33 points.
In countback order they were Tristan Dal Forno, Rex Vane and Greg Corby. Pin winners were Barry Howell and Andy Lane.
An unwanted claim for fame for Pat, last three starts and stone motherless in all of them, on
the positive side it can’t get any worse.
Next Saturday there is an 18-hole par also the Ag Expo.
Sunday is the Ted Winter Cup a 4BBB stableford medley with scratch and handicap.
The day is sponsored by the Duck Nutz Cafe.
Badge draw is for $400 on Thursday night, the putting jackpot is heading towards $1500, Dave Bartley had his chance last week and couldn’t find the hole.
