The Tigers U/11s hit the ground running after a four-week break, starting like a house on fire against the strong South Dubbo outfit.
From the kick -off half-back Toby Smith pounced on a mistake from Souths to streak away and score under the posts to see us lead 6-0 after 30 seconds.
Our second touch of the ball was just as impressive as our first with livewire Jedd O’Neill retrieving a kick in his own in-goal and beating four would-be defenders to streak away and show blistering speed to run the length of the field to put us out to 12-0.
Jedd’s try was as good an individual effort as you would see.
The Tigers went to half-time holding a handy 18-6 buffer. When powerful lock-forward Rory Quarmby crashed over early in the second half to push us out to 24-6 the game was safe in our keeping.
This was a great team effort from the boys, their defence was outstanding and it was that sort of defence that got us home.
Captain Rory Quarmby lead by example getting through a mile of defensive work. He rattled the big Souths boys with some classic tackling, workaholic second rowers Tom Yeo and Jack Buchanan were another two stand-outs, they took our boys up in defence and hardly missed a tackle between them.
In the backs the aggressive Reggie Herbert was prominent as were Steve Parry and Tom Gadsby. Nuggetty second-rower Jack The Bruiser Benny continues to improve, Jack made a couple of great runs leaving the Souths boys laid out behind him. Great effort boys, well done.
