The Far West Academy of Sport (FWAS) is currently accepting applications to trial for positions in the 2015-16 FWAS Netball Program.
Applications are open to all netball players aged between 13 and 16 years of age in 2016 (i.e. born between the years 2000 and 2003) who are living or attending school in the Far West catchment area.
Trials are being held at the Broken Hill Netball Courts in Broken Hill on Saturday October 10 from 8am to 12pm, and at the Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre, Victoria Park, Warren on Sunday, October 11 from 11am to 3pm.
FWAS programs and development officer Jarrad Linton Harland said the applications were open to all talented netball athletes in the Far West region, who were currently a registered member of their local club or association and were committed to improving and progressing as a netball player.
“We would like to see as many netballers at both of these trials as possible,” he said.
Applicants who are successfully identified at the trials as potential FWAS Netball Scholarship recipients will receive access to intensive training from quality coaches, Sports Science testing as well as educational and personal development sessions.
As part of the scholarship an opportunity exists to be involved in the Netball NSW Player Development Program and Pathway to Higher Representative Honours along with a chance to test your ability against some of the best up-and-coming netball talents from across the state at various state competitions.
The Netball Program will run from October 2015 through to July 2016, with regular training sessions and the opportunity to compete and represent the Far West Academy of Sport at the 2016 nib Games in Maitland and the 2016 Academy Games at the Central Coast.
Interested athletes should contact the academy to get further information and an application package.
