The last day of this year’s monthly medals was played on Saturday.
Tex Tomek had a day to remember with a round of 66 off the stick. Along the way he had four birdies in five holes on the back nine. His 58nett was a mile too good for Pat Walsh and Dave Buggy who ended with 69nett each.
The three nearest to the pins all were won by Tex. He and Chook Hawley, Barry Howell, Kent Johnston, Jeff Leek and Pat will battle it out in the medal play-off on October 24.
Thanks to Ray Howell, Chris and Denyce Ryan who have sponsored this year’s medal rounds.
Only four starters for Sunday’s par event and Barry Howell was the dominant player with plus five. Another playing for Mr Buggy plus one his total, the pin winner was Pat.
The mid-week competition was won by Nicole Chambers with a very good 40 points, plus the putting competition using 23 times in the round. Husband Chris was the runner-up with 36 points on a countback over Jenny Holmes.
A belated thank you to all the helpers at last week’s “open” and to Murphy’s Home Hardware who sponsored the event with heaps of great prizes.
Next weekend there is a stableford on Saturday and Sunday is Nyngan Tyres and Batteries Day. The game is an Irish Two Ball Medley select.
Badge draw is back to $200. The money went off last Thursday. The jackpot putt was not won by Alison and is worth about $500.
Twilight golf is not very far away with opening day set down for Sunday, November 1 commencing at 2.30pm.
