The Nyngan Bowling Club had a great weekend of bowls beginning with the Calcutta on Friday night which was very well-supported.
Before the Calcutta got under way, Jim Hampstead gave a great interview with Rodney Robb, and patrons got an insight into Rodney’s life as a horse trainer.
In the intriguing interview we found how Rodney’s life had taken him across Australia and even overseas.
Along side of him was his wife Wendy who had been the silent achiever in all of this, cleaning stables running the family, cooking meals and running the business.
The list goes on and even though her health has not been good, without this super woman beside him, Rodney would have found it very hard to achieve what he has.
After the interview, th auction commenced for the players in the Bogan River Classic.
Rodney has a great talent for getting the best out of people and we soon had a kitty of $2500 to divide into first, second and third prize money.
The night was such a success that the Nyngan Bowling Club will be holding a Calcutta for the Melbourne Cup in a month’s time.
Please come along and support this as you will have a great night and we do not want to see the Melbourne Cup Calcutta night fall by the wayside in Nyngan.
Twenty-four players took to the greens on Saturday commencing with a big breakfast.
They were very well entertained at night by the Willy Wag Tails finishing at midnight.
On Sunday the 24 players were whittled down to four. The final was held on Monday.
At the time of going to press, the results were not available but the results will be given to Max Healey for his Saturday morning 2WEB program after the 11am news.
However, results of the Major Triples Final were available.
It was won by Deb Vane, Dianne Smith and Dianne Wynne and the runners-up were Tamika Ryan, Rose Ryan and Alison Hampstead. Well done to those girls.
Tonight is the final night of Twilight Bowls.
Next week we move into the finals.
Nominations for Barefoot Bowls on October 17 are being called for. Teams of four are needed, so please support this fundraiser for Can Assist and the Walsh family.
It will be a great day with a giant garage sale and fun things for the kids, and remember the kids are welcome to join in the barefoot bowls.
We love to see families out there having fun as a family group, remember that none of this can happen and continue to happen without your support.
The badge draw went off on Sunday and the winner of $1000 was Adam Jermyn who also won the 100 club draw well done Adam.
I don’t think the people from the tax office read this so you should be safe.
The $100 Robb’s meat voucher went to Allan Cameron.
Until next week have a great week and drop into the club, have a beer and a yarn, we love to see you there.
