The Australian Government Mobile Service Centre Golden Wattle has hit the road this month to give people in Western New South Wales (NSW) easy access to essential government payments and services.
It will be in the Museum car park, Pangee Street from 10am to 3.30pm on Monday, October 12.
“We are pleased to be bringing the Mobile Service Centre to Western NSW,” human services minister Stuart Robert said.
“The Mobile Service Centre is a travelling outreach service that shortens the distance between rural and regional communities and government services.
“Golden Wattle is set at up as an office, custom-built with the same technology as any other Medicare or Centrelink Service Centre, including access to self-service facilities.
“The truck is wheelchair accessible and has a soundproof room where staff can conduct free hearing health checks.”
Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said the Mobile Service Centre ensures people in rural communities are connected with the latest government services.
“Staff on board will be available to discuss assistance that the Federal Government can offer farmers, including income support such as Farm Household Allowance,” Mr Coulton said.
“A social worker will also be available to help those experiencing a crisis, or who are in need of support or unsure how to access the right services.
“The Government is committed to ensuring social support services reach communities, families and individuals who need them.
“I encourage local residents to come along and visit the Mobile Service Centre while it is in the area.”
Mobile Service Centre staff can help with:
- rural payment entitlements for eligible farmers
- new claims for a wide range of Centrelink payments
- updating customer information
- confirming customer documents and supporting information
- information on how financial matters may impact on Centrelink payments
- payment and service options to suit individual circumstances
- non-cash Medicare transactions
- Medicare registrations
- information on Child Support payment and service options
- specialist support and referrals
- support with and access to self-service facilities, and
- free hearing health checks.
