Well our club has a new president and a new-look board of directors, hoping to keep the Nyngan Bowling Club moving forward into the future.
Tom Howard stood down from the position of president and Steve Read was elected unopposed.
The incoming president said Mr Howard’s shoes would be very hard to fill as he had been a very dedicated president.
Di Wynne and Andrew Reynolds are the vice-presidents and Graham Jackson was elected treasurer unopposed.
The new-look directors are Ron Sullivan, Alison Hampstead, Dennis Bourke, Maxine Christoff and Rodney Ryan.
The AGM was well supported with about 30 members in attendance which is a great indication that the members are interested in how the club is going and where it is heading.
Our great secretary manager, Sissy Beetson is staying on, the backbone of the club.
Steve and the new committee would love for members and new members of the club who might have ideas for the future to approach them and bring forward their ideas.
After the meeting a new-look bowls committee was formed.
The new bowls president is Barry Beetson and the new bowls secretary is Andrew Reynolds.
Barry had the honour of picking his own board and Rick Jermyn, Adam Jermyn, Les Bexon, Don Smith, Phil Gibson and Steve Read were chosen.
The championship rounds this week saw six semi-finals, run and won. Firstly, handicap singles, Deanna Stephens defeated Teressa Rose, Mick (Chalkie) Walsh defeated Phil Gibson in the consistency, Andrew Reynolds defeated Ron Smith and Tim Walsh gave his dad a lesson in bowls. That is what happens
Mick, when you are a great teacher.
In the mixed pairs Barry and Sissy Beetson defeated Ron and Di Smith and in the handicap pairs Mick (Chalkie) Walsh and his son Tim defeated Andrew Reynolds and Mick McGlynn.
In the consistency final Tamika Ryan defeated Di Wynne and in handicap singles Maxine Christoff defeated Deanna Stephens.
The mixed pairs were won by Barry Beetson and Sissy Beetson defeating Les and Marie Beetson.
Chicken Runners in Tuesday’s Golden Oldies were won by Ron Sullivan and Ron Burt who is visiting his mum for the week.
Great to see him back in town and on Sunday Ron Sullivan and Alison Hampstead were the winners.
Barefoot bowls are on again tonight and we are having great roll-ups.
If you would still like to play, you can still put a team in or if you just like to be a sub, well you are most welcome to join in as well.
On our final night we have extra prizes and we will have a few hams to go off as well, so if you have not won a ham by then, December 16 is the date to be at the club.
Our presentation night will be a great evening of names to be put on the board.
It’s $15 a head and great entertainment that evening with the one and only Dick Jeffries playing.
He’s a great entertainer from Dubbo who doesn’t mind a drink and a yarn and the odd game of bowls.
So until next week come to the club, have a drink and a yarn and enjoy the great atmosphere.
If you are starting to plan Christmas parties think about a game of barefoot bowls and a Chinese feed.
