In the last two months, Nyngan police have seen an increase in stealing offences reported since the beginning of April.
The Nyngan Rugby League Club's canteen and a local service station have been the most notable incidences with a count of malicious damage outside a local primary school also upsetting local residents.
Sergeant Tony Wood said the increase in crime is more noticeable as the shire usually has a low crime rate.
"Nyngan usually has a very low crime rate so increases in criminal activity are noticed very quickly. Typically Nyngan will go months without a crime, only to see a crime spike when someone moves to town, or is released from prison or goes 'off the rails' for some reason," he said.
"In the last two months we've had an increase in stealing offences with seven thefts reported since the beginning of April. All have occurred in non-residential locations."
The Tigers Rugby League Club were disappointed to find their canteen at Larkin Oval was broken into on May 10. Since then the club has been searching for any information about the incident.
The canteen, bar and barbecue were broken into with a microphone, cartons of alcohol, soft drinks, lollies and food stolen.
The club is appalled the thieves targeted a community group, run by volunteers. They have offered a reward to anyone who has any information.
Sergeant Wood said the police had been able to identify a group of teenagers who had been involved in an incident at a local service station and was exploring links to other crimes in the shire.
"Police are investigating this incident and have information that some members of the group may be responsible for all the recent incidents. Police are keeping an open mind that the offences may not be related," he said.
Despite the increasing spate of crime, Sergeant Wood said residents should not be concerned, but vigilant.
"There is no reason for residents to be concerned at this stage. None of the crimes have targeted residential homes or individuals. They have all occurred in places where no one lives and at times when there is no one working at the location," he said.
"Police ask residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour immediately."
