Property from three unlocked vehicles was stolen last Sunday.
Senior Constable Kate Miller said the thieves did not discriminate where they stole from.
“Three cars have had stuff stolen, two houses next to each other and another one,” she said.
“They were in Oatley Street and Warren Street, and all the vehicles were unlocked.”
Snr Const Warren said this is a warning to Nyngan residents to be more vigilant with their property.
“We need diligence when it comes to locking up cars. Years ago the mentality was you could leave your car unlocked in small country towns, now this is not the case. You will be victimised,” she said
Locals should also be cautious about what they leave in their car, as it could cause thieves to target certain areas.
Snr Const Miller asked residents to speak up if they are a victim of theft or any other crime.
“Please report, if we know what’s going on it’s easier to be on the look out [for criminals],” she said.
Community members are also disgruntled about the increase of petty theft around town.
Nyngan-centric social media pages have spoken about a community meeting for people to voice their crime concerns and establish local solutions.
“A community meeting in regards to the increase in crime and to discuss ways we can make Nyngan a safer place...the escalation in crime is a huge concern,” Nyngan resident Michelle Hall wrote on Facebook.
“It’s a community meeting so we can raise concerns, talk out solutions and then present to the right agencies to action.”
No date has been set yet but many social media users have agreed it’s a great idea.
