The temperature was cold but the Tigers were red hot coming up trumps in the four grades.
First grade saw the Tigers produce their best performance of the season to defeat the Jets a convincing 40 to 24, despite the Narromine team’s classy outfit. The team were also thrilled to welcome their captain coach, Byron Warren back onto the field.
“The Tigers were powerful in defence and had very few lapses in that area,” Tiger’s committee member Trevor Waterhouse said.
“[Warren’s] leadership on the paddock had an immediate influence on the side.”
Mr Waterhouse said lock forward Loma was a standout once again as was back-rower Troy Evans who tacked himself to a standstill. At the back little Benny Wyeman was superb. He made ground on every carry continually opening up the Jets defence. Big centre Rob Gudgeon had a day out coming up with three tries. He proved a handful for the Jets from word go. New signing Shane Lalogaafu was also strong.
“The reserve grade saw Deks man run out convincing 42 to 18 victors,” Mr Waterhouse said.

“They were in control from the get go and are running into some nice form.”
Mr Waterhouse singled out Matt Self who was impressive in his first game back from injury made some good ground with the football.
“Big Messa and Brad Toole were also good in the middle as was Kurt Whaley,” he said.
The under 18s got their season back on track with a convincing 48 to nil victory over the Jets.
“The defensive effort from our boys was what paved the way for the impressive win,” Mr Waterhouse said.
“Our forward pack dominated Narromine, the speed of our play the ball had them going backwards which allowed DJ Kennedy and Boo Howard to run riot on the edges, Ray Simmons, Jake McClellan, Tom Waterhouse and Clayton Couley all worked hard ion the middle as did Matt Knight and Jake Jeffery both these boys added plenty of energy to the Tigers when they went on the field.”
“In the backs, Ted Ebsworth, Matty McDougall and Daniel Stanley were sharp. Daniel was close to the best,” he concluded.
Ladies tag was a hard fought contest with the Tigers coming back from 12 nil down to run out 16 to 12 victors. The girls were a bit too fit for the Jets, a great effort.
The Tigers are at home playing Parkes Spacemen on Sunday.
