Nyngan’s 1966 premiership winning side were honoured on the day and these champion old blokes certainly got something to cheer about.
Before I get onto the footy,I would like to give a big thank you to all the people who were involved in organising and helping over the weekend, we are a very lucky club to have all the great people involved that we have.
The first grade victory has see the Tigers move to second on the table and sets us up for a strong finish to the season.
The Tigers big men lead the way with the Rodney Coates and Gerald McKay bending the Raiders line with every carry.
The club has assembled a powerful and aggressive pack of forwards, and it is in the forwards where this game was won and lost.
Our back row of Loma, Troy and Luke were outstanding with and without the ball, their work rate is phenomenal and a big reason we are travelling like we are.
Halfback Jacob Neill was also dominant he scored a great try and had a hand in several others. Great effort.
The reserve grade boys were a bit off, comparing to how they’ve been going. Macquarie came out of the blocks a bit quick for us and we never really recovered.
The final score was 28 to six in favour of Macquarie.
The under 18s were impressive, these boys has six players out due to injury and illness but hardly missed a beat in their 40 to 22 victory.
Our boys skipped out to an early 16 to nil lead and were doing it easy before they lapsed for a 10 minute period just before half time and allowed Macquarie to score a couple of quick tries.
The second half saw our boys click back into gear and go right on with the job. The defensive effort was outstanding, our boys kept turning up in numbers and if they can keep that up in the coming weeks we should worry a few more sides before it’s over.
Owen Kennedy was powerful, the big O took a heap of stopping, he crashed over the two tries and tore holes in Macquarie from the start.
Captain Clayton Couley was also very good, he kept the boys going a lead from from the front.
In the backs fiveeighth DJ Kennedy produced his best game of the season, he is an awesome footballer when he runs the ball and that is what he did.
His kicking game was also superb. Our big centre pairing of Dane Casey and Zane Westover were strong. Great effort all the boys, there was plenty of courage shown by all of you.
