A 21 year-old local man was taken into custody for allegedly stealing a wallet from a Warren Street utility vehicle on Monday, August 8.
The suspect allegedly recorded transactions on the credit card at a local supermarket and service station.
Following police investigations, the 21 year old was arrested at his home on Wednesday night and charged with numerous offences relating to the crime and refused bail by the police.
He appeared in Dubbo Local Court the following day and was released on bail to appear for sentencing in September.
Local sergeant Tony Wood said he’d like to remind locals to be careful.
“Police will continue to combat this type of offence and appeal to the community to remain vigilant. Please ensure you local your cars, remove valuables from the rear of utes and report suspicious activity.” he told The Nyngan Observer.
Sergeant Wood also reported two other convictions in Nyngan over the last four weeks.
About 1am on Sunday August 14, police observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in Cannonbar St. Upon stopping the vehicle which was found to be unregistered, Police discovered the driver was a person who had recently been disqualified from driving for a period of three years. The driver, a 23 year old Nyngan man, will face Nyngan Local Court next month on charges of drive while disqualified and drive unregistered vehicle.
About 10.30pm on Monday August 1, Police noticed a car parked in scrub near the Tottenham Rd. Three persons sitting in the car gave suspicious explanations for their presence which gave police cause to search the vehicle. A plastic bag containing a small quantity of white crystals believe to be the prohibited drug 'ice' was found near the rear passenger. A 31 year old Warren woman was issued a Court Attendance Notice.
