Even though it’s his sixth Olympics, Hermidale’s Phillip Dutton still gets excited about horse jumping at an international level. Mr Dutton won a bronze for the USA at the 2016 Rio Olympics, which concluded on Monday.

“Every Olympics are special and different. It doesn’t get any less exciting for me after six Olympics, thankfully. When it does, I will give up. Each Olympics is a new challenge and excitement,” he said.
The 52 year-old was be proud of his well-earned bronze medal especially as it showed age doesn’t matter when competing.
“It wasn’t great hearing I was the oldest US athlete in Rio so I’m glad I medalled,” Mr Dutton said.
The experienced horse rider has fond memories of Nyngan.
“Nyngan will always have great memories of friends and growing up [there]. We haven’t been back in a while, we’ll have to plan a trip.”
