What a difference a week can make in footy, this time last week the Tigers were flying high after winning all three grades, in the first week of the semis.
But this week we are licking our wounds after all grades were convincingly beaten in their clashes. The first grade side couldn't of had a more disruptive preparation with injury and suspension playing havoc with the make up of our starting side. We took the field minus five of our regular first-graders and although the boys dug deep and had a crack the well drilled CYMS outfit were always pretty much in control. CYMS held a 24 top 12 advantage at half-time and went on with the job in the second session to run out 44 to 24 winners.
On Sunday the first grade side, like the under-18s will take on Forbes in the final at Parkes. The winner advancing to the grandfinal on September 11. The reserve grade side bowed out of the competition going down to Macquarie 24 to six in Saturday's elimination semi-final. Our boys were in it at eight to six with 20 minutes to go but the Raiders finished stronger to run away with the game in the dying stages.
I'd love to give Dek a huge wrap for the job he has done this season. He had to contend with a huge injury toll throughout the year I don't think it was any secret that the reserve grade coach is the hardest job in the club. But Dek gave his all one and off the field. Well done mate.
The under-18s never gave a whimper in their contest with Wellington, our boys were off their game from the word go and never looked likely.
The young Tigers were flat when they had the ball and their usual aggressive defence was more or less non-existent. It's hard to pin-point what went wrong, but the boys will need an attitude adjustment before they take on Forbes in the semi-final at Parkes. I'm sure the boys will bounce back and we will see the true Tigers take the field in Parkes. To top off an already bad day the Tigers lost half-back Cooper Barrow in the first half with a broken collar bone, not only disappointing for the team, but disappointing for Coop who has worked so hard during the season to have been playing the footy he was.
All players are urged to get on the bus which will leave Caltex at 8am on Sunday to head to Parkes. A big thank you to the huge crowd of Tiger supporters who travelled to Dubbo.
GOLF
Tex and Rex were the pick of the crop in Sunday's stableford game, excelling on the first nine with 20 points Tex Tomek had a five point lead over Rex Vane.
It was a different kettle of fish for the second nine when Rex zommed home with 21 points compared to Tex who managed just 17 points and fell over the line just one better than Rex.
Third and fourth place-getters Dave Bartley and Tristan Dal Forno were a mile back with 33 points each. The Cowal which is choc-a-block full of water claimed many victims over the weekend.
The green-keeper Dave put four in an the handicapper three and Warren Murray dunked a few as well. One standout score in Saturday's Four Ball was 45 points by Tony Beetson and Warren Murray, they could do no wrong on the first lap with 24 points, the water got in their way on the last nine, however they had a winning margin of six points over Dave Buggy and Jeff Leek and Barry Howell and Pat Walsh, both teams on 39 points. Pin winners for the weekend were Tex and Rex on Sunday and Pat and Tulla on Saturday.
Next weekend if the predicted rain stays away we have the September monthly medal on Saturday and the club championship on Sunday for both men and women over 27 holes with a 9.30am start. Badge draw this week for $1200 and the elusive jackpot putt which Fox Hooper for Grenfell missed is worth $650 approximately.

NETBALL
The NYNGAN Tigers under-11 netballers will play in their second successive grand final, after defeating arch rivals the Tastic Tiddas 24-16 in a tense match last weekend.
The two teams had played three times previously this season, with the Tigers losing twice.
The girls trained hard for this first finals match and were warmed up ready for a good start on Saturday morning.
Ella Rose had her eye well and truly in, scoring the first goal with 10 seconds of the starting bell, and the Tigers never relinquished the lead from then on. Amy Motley joined Ella in the shooters circle for the entire game, keeping the goals up. The girls worked well together to notch up a high strike rate. Amber Dutton was injured in the first quarter and unable to return to the game, but Whitney Pack, Libby Weston and Sophie Yabsley all filled wing attack/defence position well. All three of these girls have developed throughout the season into competitive little netballers
Molly Smith was her usual busy self in the centre court, managing to be everywhere at once and never quitting in her perpetual chase for the ball.
Lucy McLaughlin and Prue Donnelly were again solid in defence and between them managed to stop many goals being scored by the Tidda’s.
This week saw the long-awaited return of Billi Smith, who has missed much of the season with a broken arm. Billi always contributes a great deal in every game and her presence on court was welcomed. The under-11s now have a week off, and will play the grand final on Saturday, September 10 against either the warren Wildflowers or the Tastic Tiddas.
FISHING
Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries has announced local fishing events will be held in Nyngan on October 16 as part of Australia’s first ever National Gone Fishing Day.
“I am so pleased to see our local recreational fishing clubs have jumped at the chance to run local Gone Fishing Day events in their communities,” Humphries said.
“The Nyngan Fishing Club has received $2000 to run the Nyngan Junior Angler Day at Rotary Park, Nyngan,” he said. “We know there are around 850,000 people who love wetting a line each year in NSW, and we hope our local community fishing activities as part of the National Gone Fishing Day will further increase participation across the state.
“The response to the calls for expressions of interest for grant applications was tremendous and the NSW Government is providing funding support valued at $67,000 for 40 clubs across the state.”
In addition, DPI will be running a series of fun-filled activities at six locations across NSW including Port Macquarie, Newcastle, Sydney, Lake Illawarra, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga.
Fishing workshops, casting competitions, goodie bags, loads of free giveaways, activity marquees, touch tanks and kids’ activity corners are just some of the free activities on the day.
