Winning the toss, skipper Jack Lupton was salivating at the prospect of a bat on a deck that looked good and a lightning quick outfield.
Opening the batting with his more fancied-father, Lupton looked to punish the Aussie attack from the outset.
Driving well and particularly punishing of any short stuff, Lupton scored at a rate that left the Bulls with more than just a few concerns.
When Senior Lupton was removed for not many, Tristan Dal Forno strode to the crease. With facial hair and a batting technique similar to Chopper Read, Dal Forno also looked to punish any wayward bowling.
The two at the crease did most of the damage and when Dal Forno was removed for 53 the side was well placed at 2-114.
Tyler Martin stuck around for Lupton to post his first hundred of the season and a knock made well quicker than a run a ball. RSL was eventually rolled for 190 with Terrance Ryan picking up three wickets.
With the mean Dal Forno steaming in from the far end, RSL would have been confident they could defend their good total; after he cleaned up Tim Walsh and Terrance Ryan, even more so.
Toby Miles was timing the ball well and putting away any loose ones, but the damage looked to be happening at the other end.
Mark Barton did a fantastic job sticking with his skipper and saw out Dal Forno, but when Ronny Findlay strode to the crease, RSL might have sniffed a victory.
Ron would not have it, however and with his trademark brutish strength, dispatched the bowling to all parts.
At drinks the Bulls needed only 40 to win and when Miles reached his hundred the game was all but sown up. Findlay and Kyle Hall saw the Bulls to the line in only the 25th over.
